The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark
Act III Scene I, ‘Hamlet’s Soliloquy’

“To be, or not to be” is an incredibly well-known phrase, but I found that I didn’t really know what it meant. Shakespearian language has always been hard to pin down for me, so I took this opportunity to dive into understanding at least one section of his work. I paired together English-made (Adobe Caslon Pro) and Danish-made (Kobenhavn Sans) type, to honor both our English author and our tragic Danish prince. To represent my own interpretive commentary, I added my own handwriting and lettering as the layman’s translation.
