After discarding all my preliminary sketches, I turned to old newspaper clippings to inspire me in my Titanic brainstorming. The bold front page headlines brought me to a ship-shaped phrase that stacked up to what I was looking for. Unable to discard the relevance of the 1997 movie on today’s cultural understanding of this tragedy, I couldn’t resist throwing in a few Easter eggs, including a Jack and Rose reference, and even a Morse Code S.O.S. in the stars.
